Fisherman's Wharf
Fisherman's Wharf is both a world-famous tourist attraction and a local commercial neighborhood on the waterfront. The City's guide says the fishing fleet of the Gold Rush era was made up of lateen-rigged sailboats copied from the craft Italian fishermen knew in their native land. Today visitors come for the Pier 39 sea lions on K-Dock, the Musée Mécanique arcade of music boxes and games, and the Fisherman's Wharf sign with its giant crab, first installed in 1968.
