Outer Sunset
The City's Shop Dine SF guide, quoting SF Travel, describes the Outer Sunset as the quiet side of San Francisco, due west toward the Pacific, with wide, windswept beaches and tranquil residential streets of friendly shops, cafes and restaurants. It can be reached by a car-free path through Golden Gate Park or by the N-Judah streetcar toward Ocean Beach. The neighborhood is home to Other Avenues, an employee-owned cooperative grocer that the guide says has run continuously as a cooperative since 1974.
