Presidio

The Presidio is a National Historic Landmark in the heart of the Bay Area, long home to native people and later a military post under three flags. It is now part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and is managed by the Presidio Trust. The Presidio Trust calls it a city within a city, a place where people live and businesses thrive and an oasis for rare wildlife, and says that unlike other national parks it is operated with funds earned there.
